Allison Brooks Janney is an American actor born on November 19, 1959. Her work on the screen as well as on stage have received praise over the course of her three-decade-long career. Janney has won numerous awards. This includes an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award and other awards. In addition, she was awarded seven Primetime Emmy Awards. Also, there were nominations for Two Tony Awards. Janney was born in Boston but was brought up close to Dayton in Ohio. She received a scholarship to take classes at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art when she completed her studies at Kenyon College. Janney began her TV debut in 1999 with the character C. J. Cregg, a role she played on NBC's political drama The West Wing (1999 to 2006.), where she won four Primetime Emmy Awards. Janney won the Primetime Emmy Award in 2014 for Outstanding Actresses in Drama Series. She was awarded this award for her role as Margaret Scully in Showtime's drama Masters of Sex. Janney was awarded two Outstanding Supporting Actress Awards for Comedy series and was nominated 6 times by Primetime Emmy Awards.
